Ep 2: When passion and ADHD collide‪!‬ P.A.V.E. Podcast

    • Performing Arts

In this episode I talk about ADHD and how it really did lead to me having this passion and drive to write poetry.

You'll find out what I've integrated in my life to ease my anxiety and how dancers fit into the whole thing.

Here is a link to an edifying article on what it is like to have ADHD as a women

Here is my poem in full...

The name of this poem is called "I write"

I write because my thoughts do not come quickly

I write because verbal expression can be tricky

As a child my words would come out jumbled

I mumbled

As my parents stared at me in dismay

Thank goodness for my younger brother

Who somehow could explain and understand my thoughts, what I meant to say

The attempt articulate my thoughts felt like a waste of time

I could not be understood, it was like my lips weren't mine

I write because my thoughts do not come quickly

I write because verbal expression can be tricky

Even with age it did not just go away

Ask me a question on the spot

I begin to feel hot

The pressure for an answer would make my brain turn into chaotic dancers

I had to put in the work the dancers I began to train

It was no easy task their strength training routine to maintain

After blood sweat and tears through it all

They worked with me

They did not drop the ball

We could work together because I allowed them to continue to dance

But now they take a much more graceful majestic stance

I write because my thoughts do not come quickly

I write because verbal expression can be tricky

In this face paced world how does a woman with ADHD find the mental energy and focus to SIT and write you may wonder?...

This my poetry friend is where my special drink comes in ;)

I love MUD/WTR for so many reasons but my favorite aspects are the calm sustainable energy it gives me and the immune system boosts. But don't just take my word for it... Check out @drinkmudwtr and use my special link when you put in your order!
