Drama Addiction: How Our Minds Get Hooked and How to Break Free with Dr. Scott Lyons

• 73 min

We will learn: How our survival strategies and coping responses become embedded in the body.  The 4 stages of the drama cycle.  The physical and mental costs of drama addiction, its impact on relationships, and how to heal from it. What's your relationship to drama? Are you the drama queen in your circle, or do you claim to hate drama while finding yourself caught up in it anyway? Or do you strive to keep your own life peaceful and stay out of other people's business? The truth is, we all thrive on drama a little bit, even if we think we don't. And how can we not? From reality TV to social media, we're constantly bombarded with sensationalized stories and conflicts. And while it may seem harmless, it deregulates the nervous system, creating more stress and less peace, which can lead to mental and physical health issues. So how do we get ourselves out of this drama cycle? That's what we're talking about today.  Our guest is Dr. Scott Lyons, a licensed clinical psychologist and mind-body medicine practitioner who specializes in therapies for infants, youth, and adults. He's also the author of "Addicted to Drama: Healing Dependency on Crisis and Chaos in Yourself and Others." He's going to give us practical tools and strategies to break free from the cycle of drama addiction and find a path toward healing and wholeness.
