947 Live Your Faith Creatively - 1 Corinthians 12:7• 5 min
How creative does Jesus expect us to be? "But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." 1 Corinthians 12:7 NASB Our third guiding principle is individual creativity. You're different than anyone ever made. So am I. There will never be another one just like you or me. God does everything differently. So why do we criticize others who don't worship the way we do, or who don't like what we like? In Follower of One, we've each been called to make Jesus visible in our world. In Lamentations 3, we're told that God's mercies are new every morning. God creates new things every day. Maybe you're one of those who thinks there's nothing new under the sun from Ecclesiastes 1:9-10. But I think that was a sarcastic King Solomon talking about the universe from God's perspective. He's seen it all. It's not new to him. But it can be new to us. We want to connect one another to the Holy Spirit and watch what he does. You have ideas for ways to serve others. Your ways will be different than mine. But you were made like you and I was made like me and God's in charge. So in Follower of One, we want to celebrate ideas that help others see Jesus. We want to embrace new ideas and new ways of pointing people to God, as long as they're not contrary to scripture and they glorify God. In the end, how you represent God to your coworkers, customers, fellow students, vendors or friends today is what matters. Even if you give a cup of cold water because you're a disciple of Jesus, you will not lose your reward (Matthew 10:42). Today, let's be a blessing to others simply because we follow Jesus. We'll step into our 3rd guiding principle and we will experience joy knowing that we were faithful to try and help others see Jesus.
