Adi Klevit on Turning 500+ Podcast Episodes Into a Book—and a Book Into a Better Keynote

• 27 min

If you're thinking about writing an authority building book, and I really hope you are, and you don't want to be counting pennies or checking your book sales all the time, you actually want a book that's going to change your life, I can tell you how. Just go to sevenfigurebooks.com. I'm not trying to capture your email or anything. You can just download this PDF that's going to tell you exactly how to turn an authority building book into revenue, speaking, authority, and no exaggeration, a whole new life.  Adi Klevit’s book doesn’t have a release date yet, but her speaking calendar is already booked through May, which is one of the reasons I wanted to talk to her about what a book can do for someone who has already established authority in her field. Klevit is an industrial engineer and the founder and CEO of Business Success Consulting Group, where she helps companies get the processes living inside people’s heads onto paper and then makes sure everyone actually follows them. She’d wanted to write a book for years but kept getting stuck on two questions: how would she do it and what would she write about? The answer came when she did for her own growing company what she’d spent years doing for clients. Once she documented her own methodology from beginning to end, the “who am I to give advice?” voice finally quieted down and that process became Stop Carrying Your Business in Your Head. Now the book is feeding back into the authority she’d already built. Writing it forced Klevit to think through her methodology from beginning to end, which in turn made her keynotes better—not an insignificant benefit when your speaking calendar is already booked months in advance. We also get into something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately: what happens to expertise in the age of AI. Klevit’s take is that the people writing books today are creating the knowledge AI will learn from tomorrow, which makes the prospect of writing one feel more important to me, not less. In this episode: How doing her own knowledge transfer finally gave Klevit the confidence to write the bookWhy 500+ podcast episodes turned out to be an unexpectedly useful book-development strategyWhat happened when she sent an early ebook to former podcast guests and started asking for endorsementsHow writing the book improved keynotes that were already filling her speaking calendarWhy Klevit believes today’s authors are helping create the source material AI will rely on tomorrowWant to know more about my company?
