    121. Ministering to Your OWN Grief | Rev. Jocelyn Jones

Sometimes we can just be too close to a situation. We don't want to see what is right in front of us. This was true for Rev. Jocelyn when she was facing her beloved father's battle with Alzheimer's. She initially didn't want to see her strong, capable, and loving dad was having issues with memory loss right before her eyes. When she did face it, however, she decided that she was going to her best, along with her brother, to find the happy moments and memories in this journey, as well as supporting their mum, who was his primary caregiver.

This is a great conversation about being human, and being vulnerable, even when you supposedly have all the tools, knowledge, and expertise, as Jocelyn does in the field of trauma and grief. It highlights how you can bring joy into a situation that seems overwhelming. How you can also use these opportunities to ask all those questions you've always wanted to know the answers to. This is also a wonderful conversation around caregiving and how to support your loved ones in that role. Enjoy!

    120. My Child Left HOME for Heaven | Nathalie Himmelrich

    120. My Child Left HOME for Heaven | Nathalie Himmelrich

In this episode I have the privilege of talking to a very beautiful soul, Nathalie Himmelrich, around some very sensitive and confronting topics.  Nathalie is a passionate writer, holistic counsellor, coach, woman & mother. Her areas of specialty are relationships, grief, and trauma, with a passion to help people find their inspiration for healthy grieving. Nathalie knows this topic well through the insights gained from her own traumatic experiences around grief. We explore the tough decisions she had to make for her sick child in utero, and subsequent passing. Dealing with her mum's depression and her death shortly after the birth of her twins. The difference between active and passive grief, and how we have been textured by our grief through our experiences, beliefs, and understandings. We also take a look at modelling our grief and the ever-changing nature of it.

This is a very rich conversation, peppered with personal insights, that allows you to sit comfortably with your grief, in whatever form that may take. These are areas of grief we don't typically speak about, so I am grateful for Nathalie sharing so much invaluable information around bridging these gaps.

Following this conversation I had the privilege of sharing my own story on Nathalie's podcast How to deal with Grief and Trauma. You can find the link to this in the links below.

    119. Seeing is BELIEVING! | Ian Clark

What would you do if you were facing a life-ending diagnosis at 46? Would you just hunker down and do the best you can? Or would you step outside conventional medicine and thoughts and do whatever it takes?

The latter is what my guest, Ian Clark, did. Facing bankruptcy at the same time as his greatest health challenge, with eight children he didn't want to leave, he used his research skills to get rid of his 'incurable' cancer. This research also led him into groundbreaking areas, including advanced information on how to literally stop the body from aging, and how to self heal all injuries while correcting structural adhesions and distortions.

This is a fascinating conversation that is sure to get you thinking... and you may never look at your health the same way again!

    118. A Victorious Heart after CHILD LOSS! | Kim Peacock

My guest on this episode, Kim Peacock, is a courageous mum who witnessed the horrific accident of her eldest child just after Christmas in 1998. She had to find a way to make sense of this and go on for her remaining children and husband. - so how do you grieve a child and still manage to live fully for the rest of your famiy? Somehow Kim found a way. Amidst the heartbreak she began to find hope - and to realize that grief and joy can co-exist.

Kim will also take us through her book Victorious Heart - Finding Hope and Healing after a Devastating Loss.

Kim is a wife, mom, writer, speaker, grief mentor, author and CFO of the Construction Company they own. Her blog, Wild Victorious Heart, has been a huge encouragement to others during their life-altering loss of a loved one.

    Kim's Bio
When tragedy struck our family right after Christmas in 1998, it was a loss so deep I believed I would not survive. We witnessed the accident that took our daughter Nicole's earthly life. That event rocked the very foundation of my beliefs and my world. I had to find a way to grieve and still live life fully. After struggling in grief -feeling isolated and hopeless - I found hope and healing. I came to realize that grief and joy can co-exist. I became determined to find purpose in my pain and help others who were struggling with the deep sorrow of losing a loved one. My book "Victorious Heart: Finding Hope and Healing after a Devastating Loss" provides useful advice, guidance, and support for those in the midst of grieving.

    117. Caregiving and RAINBOWS | Sheila Clemenson

    117. Caregiving and RAINBOWS | Sheila Clemenson

I truly believe caregivers are unsung heroes! That is why it is a privilege to talk with Sheila Clemenson who became a caregiver for her husband early into their relationship at the age of 26, when he was diagnosed with ALS. In this raw, authentic conversation we talk abut some of the tougher aspects of being a caregiver - the people pleasing trait, the guilt, the lack of self-care, and what happens after your loved one transitions. We also talk about getting a support network around us, finding the beauty in grief, the happiness, and allowing ourselves to have hope and dreams once again. If you've been having it tough in your grief, chances are you will have no problem connecting with this episode or with Sheila's recently released book - Over The Rainbow: From the Depths of Grief to Hope.

    Sheila's Bio
Sheila Clemenson is the Founder/CEO of Transitions Coaching Services, LLC with over 25 years of expertise "moving you forward" through challenging transitions. She is a Certified Career Coach, HR Consultant and Grief Wellness professional.

After being a caregiver for several years and losing her first husband, Grant, at a young age to ALS, she fell into the grief pit herself.

It's an affirmation that you too, can overcome challenging losses in your life, and bring your loved one's memories forward in new ways. You may even experience mystical messages from your loved ones that surprise you, much like rainbows, as you move forward in your life.

In this episode of The Beautiful Side of Grief we are exploring war-torn Bagdad to the sunny caribbean, and many countries in between through the eyes of a diplomat's wife, who had to struggle with infertility, pregnancy loss, parental loss, and fast exits - all the while re-adapting to strange new lands, & dealing with a complex chronic condition. Yep, that sounds a pretty heavy load - though in the midst of this, Vashti Kanahele also discovered fabulous new cultures, places off the beaten track, and a resilience and strength to take control of her health. Vashti takes us into this world that she rediscovered through the writing of her book Passports and Parasites.
